The Fluffiest Cat Breeds!

Who doesn't love fluffy cats, they are so soft and cuddly. They are literally real versions of cute stuffed animals. Yes, they get hair everywhere, but we just can't get enough of them! 

Here is a list of the fluffiest cat breeds:

1. Main Coon

Main Coon's are big! Actually, they are the largest domestic cat. They are originally from North America, Maine to be exact. They are very social. They are also known as the "Gentle Giant."

2. Persian

Persian cats are most recognizable by round face and short muzzle. They were ranked as the 2nd most popular breed in the United States, so you probably heard of them. Many sources place Italy as their place of Origin, while others Iran. 

3. Himalayan

The Himalayan cat is a sub-breed of the Persian Cat. Himalayan cats have blue eyes and have point coloring, which was the result of breeding Persian and Siamese. They have shorter legs which make it harder to jump as high as other cats do. 

4. Ragdoll

They are large cats with a soft and silky coat. Ragdolls are best known for their docile temperament and affectionate nature. The original breeders wanted a cat that will go limp and relax when picked up, hence the name, Ragdoll. (Kinda creepy in a cute way).  

5. Norwegian Forest Cat

The Norwegian Forest Cat is a natural breed originated from northern Europe. Their coat allows them to adapt to cold climates. They almost went extinct in World War II, luckily a breeding program was established. Now the Norwegian Forest Cat is very popular in Norway, Sweden, Iceland, and France.

6. Birman

The Birman Cat is a color point breed distinguished by its silky coat, deep blue eyes and "socks" and "gloves" on each paw. No clear record of the breed's origin exists. They are claimed to have originated as the companions of temple priests in northern Burma in Mount of Lugh. They are also known as the "Sacred Cat of Burma."

7. Nebelung

The Nebelung is a rare pedigree breed. The name Nebelung derives from the German word Nebel meaning "mist" or "fog." Referring to the cat's distinctive fluffy gray coat. They are very playful and intelligent. 

8. Ragamuffin

It is a variant of the Ragdoll. In 1994 it was established as a separate breed. Ragamuffin are very friendly. They come in all coat colors and patterns. White Ragamuffins are rare and in greater demand. 

9. LaPerm

The LaPerm's fur is curly, with the tightest curls being on the belly, throat and base of the ears. They come in many colors and patterns. LaPerms generally have a very affectionate personality. They have an elegant and athletic build, active and outgoing in character. Originated in the United States. 

10. Selkirk

The Selkirk cat is plusher and thicker than a LaPerm cat. They are a new breed originate in Montana, USA in 1987, with a liter born to a rescued cat. The only unusually coated kitten in the litter was ultimately placed with breeder, Jeri Newman, who named her Miss DePesto. He breed her with black Persian cats and viola beautiful Selkirk kittens. Jeri Newman named the breed after his grandfather, making them the first breed to be named after a person.
